Just how far you can shift your pieces is up to the numbers from rolling the dice, and the way you shift your checkers are decided on by your overall playing plans. Enthusiasts use different techniques in the different stages of a game depending on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Technique

The aim of the Running Game strategy is to entice all your chips into your inside board and pull them off as quick as you could. This strategy concentrates on the pace of advancing your pieces with little or no time spent to hit or stop your opponent’s checkers. The ideal time to use this tactic is when you think you can move your own checkers a lot faster than the opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer checkers on the board; 2) all your chips have moved beyond your competitor’s checkers; or 3) your opposing player does not employ the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Plan

The main aim of the blocking technique, by the name, is to stop your opponent’s checkers, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your checkers rapidly. As soon as you have established the blockage for your opponent’s movement with a couple of chips, you can move your other chips swiftly off the game board. You will need to also have a good strategy when to withdraw and shift the chips that you employed for blocking. The game gets interesting when your competitor uses the same blocking technique.
