The goal of a Backgammon match is to move your pieces around the game board and pull those pieces from the game board faster than your challenger who works just as hard to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Winning a match in Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and fortune. Just how far you will be able to shift your chips is up to the numbers from tossing the dice, and the way you shift your chips are determined by your overall playing plans. Players use a few plans in the different stages of a match depending on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Strategy
The goal of the Running Game technique is to bring all your pieces into your inside board and bear them off as quick as you can. This plan focuses on the pace of moving your checkers with absolutely no efforts to hit or block your opponent’s checkers. The ideal scenario to use this technique is when you think you might be able to move your own checkers a lot faster than the opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer checkers on the game board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your competitor’s checkers; or 3) the opponent does not use the hitting or blocking tactic.
The Blocking Game Plan
The primary aim of the blocking strategy, by the title, is to block your competitor’s chips, temporarily, while not worrying about shifting your checkers quickly. Once you have established the barrier for your opponent’s movement with a couple of checkers, you can shift your other checkers quickly off the game board. You should also have a clear strategy when to withdraw and move the pieces that you utilized for blocking. The game gets intriguing when your opposition utilizes the same blocking strategy.
