As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The goal is to shift your checkers safely around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opponent shifts their checkers toward their home board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at specific times. Here are the last two Backgammon strategies to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to move their chips, the Priming Game tactic is to completely stop any movement of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he/she ever attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. Once you’ve successfully assembled the prime to prevent the movement of the opponent, the competitor doesn’t even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your checkers and roll the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to harm your opponent’s positions in hope to improve your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game technique relies on different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game plan is generally used when you are far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are moved is partially the result of the dice toss.
